Ways to Deal with Colds

Have you ever noticed that while one person in a household may have a virus, not everyone that comes into connect with the infected individual will get sick?

This is because germs are the not the cause of disease! The deciding factor is the health of the potential host!

It is true that in the colder months, more people are sick, and our bodies seem to have lowered immunity to fighting off colds/viruses.

The important thing to focus your attention on is maintaining a strong immune system, so that regardless of what you may encounter at work, home, or in stores, you will be able to fight off a virus.

Our bodies are amazing — they have the ability to protect us from foreign, unfriendly organisms like viruses or bacteria. However, sometimes they need a little extra support.

Following a healthy lifestyle is vital for maintaining a strong immune system, this includes:

– Eating a low sugar, whole food diet

– Focusing on hydration

– Exercising

– Figuring out ways to reduce your stress levels, such as yoga or meditation

– Getting 6-8 hours/night of sleep

– Supplementing your diet with Vitamin C, Zinc, Maitake mushroom extract, Echinacea, or Goldenseal, to name a few, which are anti-viral/anti-bacterial vitamins and herbs that have been shown to have immune-boosting qualities

– Addressing the health of your intestines (small and large) with probiotic supplementation

– As my patients well know, chiropractic adjustments also help boost their body’s immune system, as they reduces the stress on the body’s nervous system
